Operation Bookdrop Makes Reading and Sharing Fun in Salt Lake
Salt Lake City bookstore Weller Book Works has released seven pulp-inspired fake book covers to coincide with its “Operation Bookdrop” campaign to promote reading and literacy. Designed by Super Top Secret, a Utah-based design firm, 878 books were scattered throughout Salt Lake City, each bearing one of the fake covers.
Featuring clever slogans like “The only thing better than that new book smell is that old book smell” and “A book is the best tool to sharpen a dull mind”, these covers aim to take the fun approach in promoting reading. Books covered and distributed include Water For Elephants by Sarah Gruen andBreakfast With Buddha by Roland Merullo, all donated by various publishers.
Readers are encouraged to read them and leave them in public places for other readers. To find out more about “Operation Bookdrop” and see all of the covers visit: here.
